I am very close to getting a completely successful install of FreebSD 2.1.5 The remaining problem is in getting my mouse to work. I only know how to check it in X, and it doesn't work there. The machine is an HP Vectra. This machine uses a PS/2 mouse. Thanks to some help from a kind soul I have figured this out, and reconfigured my kernel for this. However once I start up X I can't get the mouse to do anything. The mouse works in windoze. It's a real HP mouse as supplied with the computer. Here is what I have in the relevant section of the kernel config file ----- device psm0 at isa? port "IO_KBD" conflicts tty irq 12 vector psmintr # device psm0 at isa? disable port "IO_KBD" conflicts tty irq 12 vector psmintr # options PSM_NO_RESET ----- It looks like this works, since I see this during boot up. ---- psm0 at 0x60-0x63 irq 12 on motherboard ----- Here is the device file I have for the mouse. ----- crw------- 1 root wheel 21, 1 Oct 15 17:12 /dev/psm0 ----- here is the relevant section of the XFree86 config file. ----- # ********************************************************************** # Pointer section # ********************************************************************** Section "Pointer" Protocol "PS/2" Device "/dev/psm0" # When using XQUEUE, comment out the above two lines, and uncomment # the following line. # Protocol "Xqueue" # Baudrate and SampleRate are only for some Logitech mice # BaudRate 1200 # SampleRate 150 # Emulate3Buttons is an option for 2-button Microsoft mice # Emulate3Timeout is the timeout in milliseconds (default is 50ms) Emulate3Buttons Emulate3Timeout 50 # ChordMiddle is an option for some 3-button Logitech mice # ChordMiddle EndSection ------ Could someone please make some suggestions as to what I should try next? I'm afraid that I'm out of ideas on this. FreeBSD looks very nice, and I would hate to have to give up on it because of this one little problem.
