Message-ID: <1eubd9INNc1o@hrd769.brooks.af.mil> Date: 24 Nov 92 22:47:05 GMT Organization: Armstrong Lab MIS, Brooks AFB TX Lines: 32 NNTP-Posting-Host: hrd769.brooks.af.mil Well, I think I have gotten it working. I'm not just sure how, but it seems to be working. There are a few odd things going, but who am I to look a gift horse in the mouth. - I am using Julians sdboot/bootsd drivers, but I am using them to boot the hd0 device. This may or may not be important. - I have used the EISA configuration utility to configure the hard drive controller to think it is a wd0 interface controller, using the primary controller option from the configuration menu (0x1f0-etc.) and IRQ 14. I understand it is kind of the same thing as using it like an IDE drive, but I don't really care at this point. As long as it works reliably. - I am using a 386bsd kernel that I either got from Julian at ref.tfs.com or from the distribution disk. It is 382968 bytes long and identifies itself as version [0.1.6 10/31/92 20:01]. I can successfully boot and access all of the associated hardware. Since the only SCSI device I have in this box is a Maxtor 322 Meg drive, I don't care much at this point. Once I actually get it all working, I will try to fix up the system to where I actually can USE the SCSI controller as such. To summarize: the Ultrastor controller CAN be used with 386bsd, but you will need to have the EISA configuration program and be willing to operate in ISA mode until we get this controller to work correctly. I do not know what I changed today that suddenly made it work, but hey, if I can just keep it running until I can get it to work with EISA software, I am a happy man.
