Sorry if this is a dumb answer, but have you booted with "-c" and
changed the IRQ ? Also, I belive only one ep device is available
in the generic kernel. Have you rebuilt a new kernel with an ep1
device ?
Hint: "ifconfig -a" will tell you about all installed interfaced
drivers.
