How? Keywords: 3c503 ethernet 386bsd Message-ID: <1992Nov18.212815.5580@muddcs.claremont.edu> Date: 18 Nov 92 21:28:15 GMT References: <1edc2nINN3n0@bach.mentor.dk> Sender: news@muddcs.claremont.edu (The News System) Organization: Harvey Mudd College, Claremont, CA 91711 Lines: 13 The stock ifconfig program assumes you will be using the BNC connector, not the 15 pin AUI connector. You have to rebuild and install ifconfig with patch #35 installed. Then add "aui" to your ifconfig line in /etc/netstart; e.g. ifconfig ec0 1.2.3.4 aui up or something like that. This seems to be a very common (and might I say frustrating) problem. It might be a good thing for the FAQ. (Thanks to vikki@athena.mit.edu for pointing out the problem.) -- David Pletcher dpletche@jarthur.claremont.edu
