I've got a 700 MB SCSI disk with a variable # of sectors/track (42 -
92 spt.) When I try to install Freebsd on it The freebsd
installation menu complains that the disk grometry is wrong.

I've tried to enter the smaller # (42) and it still complains. I also
tried the "small FAT" partition trick mentioned in the manual with no
success.

I'm using an Adaptec 1540. The disk formats to full capacity on
Windows/NT, which either doesn't care about geometry or discovers it
on the fly. I've used other variable geometry disks on Sun 4.1.3 and
Solaris 2.5.

I'm stuck trying to set up Freebsd for the first time.

Thanks.
