It swapped way to much. (no fun when the machine locks up swapping 6MB to disk) I haven't tried any other browsers, so I can't comment if they use less memory or not. I upgraded the machine to 24MB, and it handles it most of the time. 32MB better yet (upgraded again). I also upgraded to a 486-66, much better. A good video card (accelerated) helps too. You can get an older model (still new) accelerated video card for $100 (US) or less that works fine.
