Can : anyone share views on performance compared to a P133 (which is still : more expensive)? Or are there any incompatibilities I should know about, : etc? I understand that the Cyrix FPU is not as powerful as the intel's, : how does this effect compiling-time performance? I run freebsd and linux on a cyrix p133+ with 16meg RAM works great! ;-)) FPU? well... depending on what kinds of applications you run, you may or may not need FPU. If you use any math, or graphics intensive apps, you may want to have a good fast fpu, i.e. CAD However, I think most people would NOT need a FPU. if you want to upgrade to Cyrix, make sure your motherboard is supported by cryix.
