In file CONFIG.TEL, look for the setting

#crmap=crlf                     # crmap by default is "crlf" other options:
                                #   "cr", "lf", "crnul", and "4.3BSDCRNUL"
                                #   the last two both do the same thing.

and experiment.  I would expect "4.3BSDCRNUL" would be what you want.
