Has anyone done this yet. There appear to be a lot of problems like if the com port is not set to 2400 when getty runs the login message and the modem get in an endless loop of spitting garbage back and forth at each other. I have a user who wants to log in at 1200 and when the modem goes 'CONNECT 1200\R\N' getty takes that as the login name (at 2400 baud) and callls login with that name. Login doesn't recognize the breaks so it can switch speeds. What is the best solution? Make login recognize the breaks? I have tried to write a simple shell script to act as getty but I don't think the system wants to run a script at this early state. I am not up to rewriting getty until I find out if anybody else out there is doing this. This must be a very common configuration. How do you handle it? Please post responses via E-mail and I will post the best solution (with kudos) to the net. Remember to reply. I have asked a few other questions and had no responses. I can't believe nobody knew the answers. Your help is greatly appreciated, Kevin Haddock fish@cscihp.ecst.csuchico.edu --------- Hackers do it with fewer instructions!
