I just got a Gateway2000 4DX-33v. That's the one w/ a local bus.
It's got ATI Ultra pro graphics, built-in IDE all on the local bus,
w/ a 340MB IDE drive and an Adaptec 1542b (didn't come w/ it) and a
Syquest 88MB drive.

When I try to boot the dist.fs or the fixit.fs they just hang, with the
drive light on. I've tried tapping the return key as it accesses the
drive (like I've seen in this group) but that doesn't help. Are there
some patches to make so I can boot? I don't have another machine
to run on, so I have to be able to make the patches on the floppy...

Thanks in advance. Tom Buskey 12100z@d1.dartmouth.edu
