It works just great, except for one minor detail. It doesn't : hang up the phone line when it's done. Even when the ISP drops his end. : I have configured the modem to time out and hangup after about 10 or 15 : minutes, but this still leaves me with a problem if I have connected : recently, and I need to reconnect. : : I notice that the dtr light on my modem never goes out. Isn't : this what ppp should be using to force a hangup ? Is the CD light going out on your modem ? If so, this says that the other end has gone away. This causes the OS to give ppp a HUP signal. When ppp gets a HUP, it'll either go away (not -auto) or hang around waiting for something to pass its dfilter. I suspect you've got clocal turned on on your port... maybe. -- Brian <brian%anorak.coverform.lan@awfulhak.demon.co.uk> <http://www.awfulhak.demon.co.uk/> Don't _EVER_ lose your sense of humour.... .
