I think this is a symptom that you need the newest flex.  There should be
a port for this version (the one on the gnu sites).  You may also want to
look for a postgres port in the -current ports--it may work fine even on
older versions. 

I also know that the postgres web pages included FreeBSD installation
instructions, you might want to look for those.
