Just an observation.] Has anybody managed to get the following collection of hardware to work together? BSDi 2.1 with any patches you care to name. PP200 + 256mb ram AHA 2940 (system disk) AHA 2944W (raid) Eclipse 921SD raid box (http://www.eclipse-technologies.com/) 5 4g barracuda drives. the eclipse is a reasonably powerful raid box with five separate SCSI busses, one per disk. BSDi's disksetup program can't handle it, reporting strange errors, pretending to write a label and doing nothing, it is completely beyond newfs and, it seems, BSDi's support have never heard of anyone wanting to do something as strange as this. While waiting for BSDi to redeem themselves and perhaps come up with a fix, the Lunix camp may find it entertaining that redhat 4 installed and recognised it with no difficulty whatsoever. The only thing preventing me from keeping the newsserver from hell as linux is the narrowminded attitude of the newsadmin that thinks because the linux source is freely available that it is insecure. (But that's another story.) 3.5mb/s write (raid 5) 24mb/s read!! (raid 5) Fast wide differential!
