Lim) Newsgroups: comp.unix.bsd.freebsd.misc Subject: user ppp does not hangup after timeout - why? Date: 12 Nov 1996 17:43:45 GMT Organization: Caltech Alumni Lines: 129 Message-ID: <LIM.96Nov12094345@alumnae.caltech.edu> Reply-To: lim@alumni.caltech.edu NNTP-Posting-Host: alumnae.caltech.edu I've configure user ppp, and using it to dial out to my ISP. However, for some reason, ppp does not hangup after the idle timeout. How do I find out what process is holding the line, or what I've done wrong? I start user ppp with "ppp -auto ndc". I have not sendmail daemon running. There is a process that says sendmail is accepting connections. Is this the cause? I did start up the web server httpd, but there should be no incoming connections for it. I just don't see anything else. --- output of netstat -i Name Mtu Network Address Ipkts Ierrs Opkts Oerrs Coll lp0* 1500 <Link> 0 0 0 0 0 lo0 16384 <Link> 1 0 1 0 0 lo0 16384 your-net localhost 1 0 1 0 0 sl0* 552 <Link> 0 0 0 0 0 tun0 1500 <Link> 1855 0 2069 0 0 tun0 1500 192.101.92 kali 1855 0 2069 0 0 --- output of netstat -ra Routing tables Internet: Destination Gateway Flags Refs Use Netif Expire default ndcblazer UGc 3 0 tun0 localhost localhost UH 0 1 lo0 heidi ndcblazer UGHW3 0 6 tun0 3354 maya ndcblazer UGHW 3 2835 tun0 kali localhost UH 0 0 lo0 --- output of ps augx USER PID %CPU %MEM VSZ RSS TT STAT STARTED TIME COMMAND root 169 1.6 7.2 3692 3376 ??
