On the local systems, it's something that's likely to be changed/added to/whatever rather frequently and hacking into gettytab each time isn't really ideal plus it lends itself to errors. I was hoping someone might be able to tell me how to set up a variable perhaps that referred to the file /etc/issue so that I could just add the variable to the prompt (just like the host name or the tty) and then only modify the file the variable refers to instead. I think it would be a little more ideal only I have no idea how to go about doing it. I think it would be a useful thing for a lot of people out there (esp. since a few people already e-mailed me requests for forwards of any replies I might receive). Anybody have any thoughts on this here? Thanks! -Dave -- ~|~|_ _ | _ _ _| _ |` /~`|_ _ _ _ | | |(/_ |_(_)| (_| (_)~|~ \_,| |(_((_)_\ Ever been to the Realm of Chaos?
