You are likely running out of memory during expire. Typically expire
takes about 1 hour on our news box, and that has 256Mb of memory. My
guess is that you are running out of memory and thrashing the system,
hence the extreme expire times.

News server:	P6-200 (Tyan Titan Pro Mb)
		256Mb RAM
		Adaptec 3940UW SCSI controller
		5 x 4Gb Quantum Atlas wide drives (spool)
		1 x 2Gb HP drive (root)
		SMC 9332 PCI ethernet card (100bTX)
		FreeBSD -current
		INN 1.4 unoff 4 with patches
