Just to avoid confusion, there is a kernel : option in LiNUX kernels 2.0.x that allows an incoming IP packet on one : interface to be rebadged as another IP with a designated port number. : The net effect (I made a funny..=)) is that you can make all packets : coming into the first interface appear to the rest of the world as if they : came from the second interface. : I ask this because from what I have heard, FreeBSD is far superior in : MOST </flamebait> networking.. I would be interested in seeing the : difference between the two, but this IP Masquerading is very important in : our environment. ip_fil3.1.1 compiles and works under FreeBSD, supplying full NAT support although I havn't got the ftp-data stuff working yet - I think that'll have to proxy. If you're looking for a "cleaner" solution, http://www.srv.net/~cmott/alias.html will give you a NAT-like iijppp program, and an even cleaner solution, socks5 (one of the ports - and maybe a package) will give you a socks5 proxy solution. : ps/ Also, what is the status of DosEMU (or the equal) for FreeBSD? I have a dosemu binary on one of my FreeBSD machines, but I've never used it. -- Brian <brian%anorak.coverform.lan@awfulhak.demon.co.uk> <http://www.awfulhak.demon.co.uk/> Don't _EVER_ lose your sense of humour.... .
