Would CVS work better? I've recently used CVS with glorious success for a nice
patch/merge operation on some sources that came with RCS identifiers in 'em.
As best I can tell, import and checkin don't touch the RCS IDs, and if you is
"-kb" with the checkout they never get touched at all.
