I'm sure that if you used some sort of platform-independant method of
backing up, like dump(8) or tar(1), you shouldn't have a problem with reading
the tape from Linux, FreeBSD, or any other operating system that will read
the tape drive.  I've heard of a few commercial tar programs for Windows
NT, even.
