Try a Maxtor XT2190 if you want. This has about 150MB and looks like an RD54. The RQDX3 is a standard ST506 interface, but the ROM's and your probable kernel are going to be sensitive to the kind of device that you attach. Using a drive that has a different number of heads and/or cylinders than the RD53/RD54 won't neccessarily fail -- try it and see how it works. It may work as a data disk that you just can't boot from. If it works at all it will be because mtXinu's kernel (which you said you were using) has the later "disklabel" functionality, which seems unlikely if you bought this thing for $1200 (that is, it's probably pretty old.) -- Paul Vixie, DEC Network Systems Lab Palo Alto, California, USA "Don't be a rebel, or a conformist; <vixie@pa.dec.com> decwrl!vixie they're the same thing, anyway.
