Actually I'd like to see it made part of the kernel mode ppp. I've read the philosophical objections and arguments posted here but I disagree with them. IP masquerading would be a very valuable tool to have and if someone with the talent for it can implement it for FreeBSD and wants to do the work it should be included. While I understand the debate, sometimes practicality has to win out. ISP's don't like to give subnets away for free. Socks5 works as long as you have clients but they are in a minority. So you have to do something like use sockscaps on a windows machine and cross your fingers.
