i've had a similar problem in which an invocation of "expect" from rc.local
works on my 486, but not on my 386...

i don't think it's CPU dependent, but i've no basis for that thought...

in either case, it works perfectly fine when invoked in exactly
the same manner from the shell prompt...


i just haven't had time to look into it... if anybody has any idea... 8-)
