I currently have 5 systems running 2.1 w/patches (K210-015 is the 
important one).  I have no problem with large pings.  I did find that the 
cards would not boot correctly until I made sure that the netstart file 
had the following lines:

iface=ef0
linkard="-link1 link2"

It seems that the link1 interface just won't work and it is set as the 
default.  Hope this helps.
