In scandinavia many of the computer words/abbreviations are probably pronounced "the wrong way" due to the native language differences. In a completely different PDP, with a different operating system, there is a memory block named FIRQB. But fortunately the authors anticipated the problem of pronounciation, and provided a pronounciation guide. "FIRQB, pronounced furk-be". With some imagination a non-american easily can easily get a decent pronounciation with that help. BTW. I also throught it was da-eh-mon.
