Are you using any kind of tcp wrappers? Are .rhosts enabled (w/username) on each appropriate machine? Are the .rhosts permissions set correctly (should be 444 on my machine)? How are your host/NS files setup? Does the Solaris box know the name of your FreeBSD box? Do you get an explicit permission denied message, or does nothing happen?
