It proved to be sufficient for me.  Not for a Sun however, but for a
FreeBSD client.

(The most work has been to setup a suitable root f/s for the client.)

Yep.  Yep.  bootp is commented out in inetd.conf, however.

Really?  I thought it also tells about FreeBSD.  Anyway, why don't you
simply _try_ it?  I think one attempt to try using it would have got
you along much quicker than the Usenet RTT for your article is.
