How about a little bit of real-world-user input here, guys: It's pretty funny that Oracle has to change when OS minor revs change. Tough s**t for them. Let me tell you in no uncertain terms that if OUR dbms vendor (Ingres) told us that we had to get a new release of Ingres to match a Solaris minor version update, we'd tell BOTH vendors to go straight to hell. Existing archive libraries is a BIG issue in the real world. Existing .o files that can't be conveniently (or at all) recompiled is a BIG issue. For me, inconvenience means dollars pissed down the drain. Karl Schendel Telesis Computer Corp wiz@telesismfg.com
