Can you try a different (external) floppy controller?  The UMC8669F on
the P55T2P4 is known to be not bug-compatible with the NE765.  While
Bruce Evans found a suitable workaround to at least get the diskettes
working on it, i'm afraid nobody has tested floppy tape access on
these FDCs yet.
