If I press 'w' to create the filesystem and swap area, it says it cannot read the swap partition. If I don't try and create the filesystem manually, these are the messages I get: 'Extracting bin into / directory; 1%' '168960 bytes read from bin dist, chunk 1 of 69 @ 41.2 KB/sec' 'Write failure on transfer! (wrote -1 bytes of 1024 bytes)' I have tried the BIOS 1023 cyl geometry AND the 4092 cyl geometry detected by FreeBSD. Both give the same messages. I tried running the BAD sector detection before creating partitions, and that ran ok without a glitch. BIG Clue: Could this problem have something to do with the fact that my IDE card is PCI based and not ISA?? I notice the device autodetection reports my IDE controller as ISA. Please help - I really hope I don't have to download a whole new version. Once again, please post replies to my e-mail : (I don't know if its possible to poll usenet for replies) Many thanks
