One of the servers has a disk mounted on /usr/local/www that holds all the pages. It is NFS shared to the other server. The other server also mounts the share onto /usr/local/www and does its work from there. Both machines are running 2.1.0-RELEASE and Apache 1.0.5 After what seems to be a random period of time, the server running Apache from the NFS share suddenly begins spewing 'VM pager fault (I/O error) in pid xxx' messages. I thought maybe a local disk was going bad or something else was happening until I actually saw it happen before my eyes. When this happens, the network activity lights for the NFS server and the NFS client instantly turn on solid. If I kill all the web server processes, the messages stop, the server does not crash, and the lights turn off. If I do not kill off the server processes, the NFS client machine will crash eventually, sometimes within seconds other times it took hours. If anyone has seen this before or has any suggestions as to what would cause this kind of problem, please reply. Jonathon Elite.Net System Administrator
