Which version of FreeBSD?  Which kernel options are you using?  Are you
suspending it from sleep mode to install it, or rebooting from scratch? 
Which mouse driver are you using?  Are you using an external mouse?

See above.  Is APM enabled by default?  Are you trying to use the apm
driver, or what?  How are you using the APM driver that causes disk
corruption?

I need more information if I'm going to be able to help.
