When trying to do a freeBSD 2.1.6 install from an MSDOS partition, the
install programme can't find the necessary files. I've created a
directory structure on my D: dos drive like

d:\Freebsd
d:\freebsd\bin
d:\freebsd\manpages
d:\freebsd\docs etc. etc.

I'm not sure but shouldn't the install progamme (floppy based) see my
logical drives like:
d: = wd0s5
e: = wd0s6

Because when specifying where the Dos partition is for the
installation files, I am given only two options wd0s1 and wd0s2 (yes
I've tried them both)

I have one primary (c:) and two logicals (d: & e:)

partition info at present is
 Primary c: 600Meg
 Extended 250 divided up into 150 for d: and 100 for e:

This leaves approx 400M free disk space on my 1.2Gig drive.

I don't think its a drive geometry problem as I've purposely entered
the true drive parameters and generated the appropriate >1024 error ,
so I know what the error looks like. This error isn't generated when
my LBA bios mode allows the freebsd fdisk utility to see the
translated parameters which fall below the 1024 cylinder mark.

I'm clutching at straws here and the only thing I can come up with is
the fact that my C: drive is compressed and possibly confusing the
issue.
