Date: Fri, 06 Dec 1996 08:53:16 -0500 Organization: IDA Lines: 19 Message-ID: <32A8254C.7330@ida.org> NNTP-Posting-Host: ganderson-pc.oed.ida.org Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Mailer: Mozilla 2.02Gold (WinNT; I) CC: ganderson@os2bbs.com I just added a new 1.2 Gb disk to my FreeBSD 2.1.0 machine. The device files (/dev/rsd1*, etc) were already made so I created a new entry in /etc/disktab (with only 'c' and 'h' partition entries since this disk will be mounted at /usr/people), then ran disklabel with -w -r, then newfs /dev/rsd1c. So far so good. Next I mounted the disk at a temporary mount point (/mnt) and moved everything from the old /usr/people to it, then umounted it from /mnt and mounted it on /usr/people. This last mount resulted in a message that complained about '...invalid partition table...no magic...'. What have I done wrong? Everything seems to work fine, but I don't want to be surprised by anything subtle.
