Is there any performance or stability advantage to using a more expensive
motherboard?

For example:

An ASUS Dual Pentium (Intel 430 chipset) board runs $600
A Gigabyte Pentium board with the Triton-II chipset runs $150+

Since I have no intention of using the on-board IDE controller, what
benefit would I derive from going with ASUS over Gigabyte?
