Has someone got an algorythm for the ctrl/Data file order discovery in lpdp. RFC 1179 says "LPR clients SHOULD be able to sent the receive data file and receive control file subcommands in either order." but gives indication of how determine which order to use. I guess I could try to send them alternately until I get an OK response from the server. However when sending the ctrl file first to the BSD version (well the Linux version but I think it is the standard BSD src.) of lpd seems to return an error condition of \x01 occansionally, apparently meaning try again later [the RFC is silent on the meaning of error codes]. As a result I feel this method leaves a lot to be desired. Is there a convential method?. *************************************************************************** * Roger G.
