Do me a favor! The DEC Alpha is the only Unix system you can buy where it is not designed for a single user: you have to have a 24 hour support person to sit next to you and spend his(her) whole life typing in those darn very-long-license-keys. DEC Unix is nice. But their admin and paranoid security restrictions make these machines a pain for home-use. In a corporate environment expect these mahines to cost more to maintain than a PC. I had an envelope come with my machine, 1" thick full of licenses. I cannot even be bother to read what half of them are for. (I cannot even figure out what all the products are for). Sun's licensing is simpler although not perfect. Maybe Linux on the Alpha would be better for hacking purposes :-) --- Paul David Fox Lehman Brothers. | I do not speak for ###################### E-mail: pfox@lehman.com | Lehmans.
