It's even easier than mounting.  If you've installed the mtools package
(which should be included with your distribution), you can execute
"kind-of-dos-looking-commands" like mcopy, mdir, mdel, and mformat.
How's that for a bargain?  :)

BTW, you don't need to be root to use mtools.
