Then you hit the bug in our MSDOSFS code that we've been so disgusted by that the msdosfs code is currently undergoing a complete rewrite. In the meantime, the upcoming 2.2-release floppy uses a totally different way of accessing the DOS partition (it uses Robert Nordier's stand-alone DOSIO library, to be precise) and a pre-release floppy image may be just what you need to install that 2.1.6 system. Grab this floppy image: ftp://freefall.freebsd.org/pub/incoming/boot-22pb.flp Copy it to a floppy and boot as usual, and when you come to the first screen, select the Options editor and go down and change the release version to "2.1.6-RELEASE". Then quit out of the options editor and proceed with a DOS installation. Let me know how it works out. -- - Jordan Hubbard President, FreeBSD Project
