Hey y'all,

I just installed a cheapo soundblaster 16 into my 2.1.5 BSD box. I
created the
required drivers (MAKEDEV snd0 and MAKEDEV sb). I recompiled the kernel,
and it sees the card (apparently) at startup:

sb0 at 0x220 irq 7 drq 1 on isa
sb0: <SoundBlaster 16 4.12>

Looks good, right?  Well catting a file to /dev/audio produces nothing;
the speakers are quiet and the cat jsut hands. /dev/sndstat returns the
following:

VoxWare Sound Driver:3.0-beta-950506 (Sun Feb 5 14:38:12 EST 1995
freebsd-hackers@freefall.cdrom.com)
Config options: ffffffff

Installed drivers:
Type 2: SoundBlaster

Card config:
SoundBlaster at 0x220 irq 7 drq 1

Audio devices:
0: SoundBlaster 16 4.12

Synth devices:

Midi devices:

Timers:
0: System Timer

Mixers:
0: SoundBlaster

Any clues as to what the problem might be? Should I have installed the
sbxvi driver instead? Shouldn't just sb work too, though?

Thanks!
