The book TCP/IP Illustrated, Volume 2, by W. Richard Stevens (and Gary R. Wright) explaines allmost all (IP) networking code of Net/3, (i.e. 4.4BSD-Lite) FreeBSD is based on that. The book is quite good, it includes lost of code and explains all lines. (about 1100 pages) Also explains the structure. Also has a chapter about mbufs Hope this helps GAM
