My goal is to use vat for MBone reception, but at the moment I'm just trying to get any noise out of the card at all. I was originally trying a 'SoundBlaster compatible' card, but have swapped in an older basic SoundBlaster, with no improvement. The jumpers are set to the default values (port 0x220, irq 7). (The card works OK under DOS.) My kernel config includes: controller snd0 device sb0 at isa? port 0x220 irq 7 conflicts drq 1 vector sbintr When it boots, I get: sb0: at 0x220 irq 7 drq 1 on isa sb0: <SoundBlaster 2.1> But I can't seem to get any sound. I've seen comments about cating a sound file to /dev/audio (should this be an .au file? I've tried files of several formats), but all I get is a brief crackle on the earphones. I haven't been able to find much relevant documentation except for 'sound.doc' in /usr/src/sys/i386/isa/sound. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Joel joel@engr.washington.edu
