There are reasons to love and loathe just about any variant of UNIX, but Solaris (or SVR4, for that matter) is not very similar to what was formerly known as "System V". It is more like a big chunk of BSD and SunOS with a little System V on top and on the side. But since the System V stuff is mostly on the surface, SVR4 appears a lot more System-V-ish than it really is. -- ----------------------------------------------------------------- Dipl.-Inform.
