I cannot think of anything that would lead to this, as all my machines
work well,
however you might try work out under which surcumstances you nee the
delay and which you don't, (by making the delay conditional, or moving
it around.

I have heard rumours that japanese PCs have a slightly different
interrupt controller setup. you might check the truth to this rumour.
