I also have a goal of a : > : killer LFS port, and some docs on the VM code. : > : > When will the first 3.0-current or 3.0-SNAP hit the FTP sites? : : Well, 3.0-current is the current-current if you know what I mean. : 2.2 is frozen, except for bugfixes. Aha...some of the stuff in the -current directory structure is from before the switch. Surely once 2.2 goes to BETA and RELEASE the more stable parts of 3.0 development will be made part of 2.2.x? : The kernel part of the Lite/2 integration should be in : -current by the end of the weekend (assuming my Christmas activities : don't get in the way.) Even though Jeffery Hsu has apparently done an : excellent job on the Lite/2 stuff, the code immediately after the : initial commits will not be for the faint of heart (probably due to bugs : that I introduce :-).) Well, being in one of those "production environments",I'm still gritting my teeth before an upgrade from 2.1 to 2.1.6...just interested in what's further down the pipeline : The SMP stuff will likely be going into -current in about the Jan->Mar : timeframe (I guess.) At that time, the kernel developers will join the : SMP effort supporting the SMP merge with the technology that is agreed to : (that kind of SMP that the SMP guys decide on implementing.) : : I believe that there will be a committed effort by at least a few of the : core team members to support a new architecture also. I for one, intend to : support that effort (working for the lead person on that team) : whole-heartedly. Hmm,what does FreeBSD gain by expanding beyond its niche?
