I have just installed Netscvape 3.01 to my NetBSD 1.2 machine, however
when I try to run it, I very quickly get a "bad system call" error and
   it dies.

In order to help you, you must provide some information about your system.

Run the command "uname -a" and cut-n-paste the output back to me.
This will show what kind of NetBSD you have.

Mine says:

kstailey@owl$ uname -a
OpenBSD owl 2.0 OWL#2 i386

OK, so it's not a NetBSD, but it's close compared to, say, Linux.

Run the command "file netscape" in the same directory as the netscape
binary and cut-n-paste the output back to me.

Mine says:

kstailey@owl$ file /usr/X11R6/bin/netscape
/usr/X11R6/bin/netscape: 386BSD demand paged executable

This is the 386BSD version. It runs on NetBSD, OpenBSD and probably FreeBSD.

Thanks,
Ken
