Date: Thu, 3 Dec 1992 22:05:10 GMT Message-ID: <BypEoo.Jyo@ibmpcug.co.uk> References: <AGQta7hGh2@astral.msk.su> Lines: 41 (Sorry if this appears twice: had posting problems) This is probably a common problem which anyone who has got uucp going will be able to answer, I hope: I've put up the standard Taylor uucp - executables copied from ref.tfs.com - and I'm having trouble doing anything. The only thing that seems to work is when I uucico out to my feed site, and there's mail pending for me. That gets delivered fine. But if my feed site calls me there's a problem (see listing below), and if I try to call uucp to transfer a file from me to my feed site, it tries about 10 times to establish a lock file then fails. I've explicitly cleared out the dead locks from /var/lock/TMP* but it doesn't help. Here's what happens when I call in (from a DOS box): (3) dial: Modem reports connected (2) autobaud: speed select 14400 (2) expecting 6 of 10 "ogin:--ogin:--ogin:" (1) wanted "ogin:" (2) got that (2) callup: sending 7 of 10 "uucp" (2) sending "uucp" (2) expecting 8 of 10 "word:" (1) wanted "word:" (2) got that (2) callup: sending 9 of 10 "pass" (2) sending "pass" (2) 1st msg = Shere=camden (2) 2nd msg = RLCK (1) Unexpected second message: LCK (3) hangup: Dropped DTR I presume (though I don't know the protocol) that RLCK is an error meaning it couldn't create a lock file. thanks Graham --
