I'm trying to use dial out ppp to another sub net. I'm running on a Pentium 100 with an SMC ether card. The modem connects fine, and runs ppp, but I can't even ping the ip address assigned to the ppp0 interface, let alone anything on the remote sub net. If I haven't specified a default route to ppp0 before hand, a default route is added for the we0 interface, and the gateway for the ip address is assigned to link0, which is incorrect. The routing tables look good if I add a defualt gateway ahead of time to ppp0 (I have a static IP add. when connecting). Is anyone actually using BSD/OS 2.1 to successfully dial out using ppp? I'm actually investigating this problem for a client who experienced the same thing on his box. Any help would be appreciated!
