True, FreeBSD has some advantages over Linux. However, not always the
best product survive in the market place. VHS/Beta, Mac/IBM are just few
examples of these. Therefore, those who care to keep FreeBSD alive
should start thinking hard to ways to confront Linux head to head,
before it is too late. Even though, Few years ago FreeBSD was far more
superior to Linux, this not the case today! Here is what's needed:

    - Creation of specialized task forces, as follows:

             - Porting Task Force:
It's job would be to educate and help it's new
members to port application, recruit more members
for porting, and review all the software available
in other platforms (DOS, LINUX, SUN, etc.) and
prioritize and schedule them for porting
by the members of task force.

              - Driver Task Force:
It's job would be to educate and help it's new
members to write device drivers for all the devices
ever used in PC computers, recruit more members
for writing device driver, and prioritize and
schedule all devices for driver development by
the group. Aggressively organize Nagging campaigns
encouraging the OEMs to offer their new devices
with FreeBSD support and development of FreeBSD
                      driver.

             - Publicity Task Force:
It's job would be to make as much noise as
possible about FreeBSD, creation of FreeBSD
user group in every high school, collage,
university any where around the world.

             - Help Task Force:
It's job would be to recruit people around the
world to staff a 24 hour help desk on IRC, the
mailing list, and the news group.

             - Fund raising Task Force:

With out the above measures, FreeBSD, fade away in the Linux world, as
did Beta, or Mac.

                    With highest regards,
                         Babak E. Sehari
