I am concernde about what will happen to these packages when I upgrade FreeBSD. Under some disrtibutons (Debian GNU Linux) /usr/local is reserved for thsi and the upgrade procedure garuntes not to touch this area. Howevere I note that FreeBSD puts stuf in this tree. BTW what determines if it's put in /usr/local or /usr as a part of the distribution?
