Oh, I remember this problem, and it's a right bas*ard, I must remember
to start making porting notes, because I can't remember the solution. :(

Hmm, I think I had mine install under /usr/local, but anyway.

I think the solution is to fiddle around with the configure script,
and change some paths around, or supply some different search path 
parameters, but as I recall that didn't help much.

It's a shame that I didn't make any notes as I spent ages getting it to
work. :(  Sorry to not be of much help.

Install a different o/s just to get one app working? ;)
